A Piece of the Pie

A pie ride? It was the first time for Sue, Dar and I to attempt this kind of ride. After all....you normally get a pasta dinner or chicken dinner--but a pie??? We had to check this out, so we heaed to Janesville bright and early for the 7th annual Rotary pie ride. Started out flat, nice roads etc, as it went on there were a few small hills and 2 small rest stops.

After 30+ miles in the sun and 85 degree heat we crossed the finish line, were given mardi gras beads and then got to choose between a cherry or apple pie. Was it worth it? We thought so.

Hey guys,
I'm Kat, a recent addition to the Betties! I just moved back to Milwaukee after traveling and working for a few months in South America (where I lost all the fitness I had last fall when I ran my first marathon). I haven't been a HUGE biker before now...more like the girlfriend of a bike geek...but this summer it seems to be all I want to do. Anyway, I was reading Rochelle's post about the Iron girl events and got really excited to try something like that.

I would like to do some more consistent weekend rides like Saturday or Sunday mornings (on the North Shore if possible, but I'm open to other suggestions). Maybe we could set up a ride that meets at the same place and time one day on the weekend and just plan to do a 25-35 mile ride every each week on that day. Thoughts??

Maybe there is something like that already set up with the Betties and I just don't know because I'm new. If so, let me know!

Mike took this photo before I ventured out on the 50 mile Miller Ride for the Arts. I am proud to say we all finished the ride and in really good time.

I want to congratulate all the Betties, we were really able to stick together and support one another until the end. We are really improving!

Hello- Hope everyone had a great ride today- at least the weather was pretty cooperative. Remind me next year to sign up for the 50 mile ride. The 25 was jam packed with weaving people and a crash waiting to happen- yikes. I imagine the 50 mile reduces the masses a bit. ?
