I Spy A Betty

Oh, please - Suri Cruise, Brangelina sightings - they're so passé, the REAL question on everyone’s mind is "Where ARE those beautiful bicycling Betties today???!!!"

Well, they were spotted by our stealth paparazzi team at the TDF on Sunday – yes THE TDF, the pinnacle cycling event of the year. The ride started in a quaint little town called “Fort Atkinson” (we think it’s on the border of France and Belgium or somewhere around there…). They even made the front page of the newspaper (read around the world no doubt).

You can see the determined looks on their faces…in the front we have
Deena (aka “Polka Dot Powerhouse”) and Megan (aka “Catwoman”).

To the side in back, you can see Roshelle (aka “Crash”), and Renée (aka “Hill Slug”).

We couldn’t quite catch Sue (aka “Flash”), she proves to be most elusive. We’re sure that Cecilia (aka “Coach”) was somewhere lurking in the shadows as well.

We still have no Betty sighting of Cari (aka “Invisi-Betty”) – we think she’s imaginary and they use her to throw us off their trail.

And, if that’s not juicy enough, there was a mystery man with them, someone they referred to as “Barney”. We think he’s a hired gun, making sure no one gets too close to the Betties. Dressed in black, he was spotted talking into his helmet a lot, clearly scanning the perimeter at all times. He went home that afternoon with not 1, but 2 Betties! We can’t say more than that, because what HAPPENS on a Betty ride, STAYS on a Betty ride.

We’ll keep you posted with more Betty sightings as we follow them through their tour of the Midwest…stay tuned…

Ride faster...Hell Bunny's on your tail...

Hi Betties...
Just a note to say see everyone this Thursday on the weekly ride if you are planning to come. If you are riding Tour de Fort but can't make it this Thursday and want to arrange a ride, give me a shout. We have 35 and 66 mile takers for the TDF, so you'll be able to ride with someone you know.

And the picture to the left was a graphic I found once overseas and it was labeled "Hell Bunny". Love it. He's a wicked fast bunny on his bike ;-)

Betty down...

Hi ladies...please send your best wishes to Roshelle for a speedy recovery -- she took a bit of a digger today at the Wheeling For Healing Ride. Lots of road rash and such, but nothing broken thank goodness. She will be fine, but will need to take some time off from riding (as well buy a new helmet!). I know she will bounce back in no time. The bike, like Roshelle, sustained superficial but no structural damage.

And thanks to Deena for being there for a fellow Betty!!

A.W.O.L. B.E.T.T.Y. A.L.E.R.T. !!!

Attention! This is a bulletin about a missing Betty…goes by “Cari”. She is over-worked and under-biked. Last seen sporting a very fashionable salmon-pink Betty jersey, with a lightening fast, blazing yellow Felt bike. We think she may be in hiding because her pink bike bag is on back order…or perhaps she has run off with Lance Armstrong (she DID seem pretty happy when he and Sheryl broke up…). If you see this biker-chic, don’t try and approach her, she will zip past you on her bike in a whoosh of pink blur. We hope to see her burning rubber soon with the Wisconsin Betties.

This message was brought to you by the concerned Betties of Wisconsin. Betty Out.

One Betty richer...

Here we are again, one Betty RICHER! Welcome Cecilia!

And that big smile on Roshelle's face is partially due to that hot new Roubaix she is riding...she was positively beaming on her bike!

BIG SMILES EVERYONE! SAY "BETTY RIDES"!

Guest Betties

Last weekend we had a guest Betty in town from the Chicago area. Tracy is a triathlete and loves biking, so she's been dubbed "Guest Betty" ... note, this is her "old" bike, she is awaiting a brand new Trek carbon fiber beauty soon, at which point, she will be flyin' ...

She's hot, hot hot!!

And riding her bike not, not, not! Believe it or not, we've been turning down riding in this heat ... well, a few brave Betties had some free time on Monday and headed down to the lakefront (with a couple of Barneys in tow...) for a ride - cooler by the lake, right? I think we felt a slight breeze, but it was fun anyway. Lots of sweatin' Betties, but we treated ourselves to something cool at Alterra on the lake.

And, I don't want to delve into too many details, but Deena had a bit of a falling out with a feisty wasp that followed her home...I think she may have had trouble sitting on the bike after that. Well, as we say, what HAPPENS on a Betty ride, STAYS on a Betty ride, so if you want more details, you'll have to ask Deena personally....

We had a "guest" Betty in town last weekend from Chicago, so we'll post that pic soon!

Cooler weather and riding ahead!
